We are having such a beautiful summer weather right now! As a result I was even more determined to get some new sunglasses and a few basic summery tops as I happened to have none. Ended up in H&M with a bunch of striped tees, vests and a long sleeved top and also got two pairs of sunglasses.
Mr didn’t believe me when I said I wanted to buy my eyewear at H&M. I asked him to stop being a snob and just bear with me for a few minutes. Then found some lovely shades that looked great on me and for less than £10!
I admit, I used to buy designer sunglasses, but then figured out that with a change of taste and preference as well as fashions I find myself wanting several pairs, so I could swap them the same way I’d do any other accessories. Expensive shades just didn’t agree with me. I’d rather have a few sweet darlings from H&M or TopShop and spend money on beautiful shoes that I’ll wear for several seasons. And that’s what I told my husband while queuing with my new treasures.
Talking of high-street… Last night I’ve created a replica outfit of the Versace Spring 2012 RTW – you will find details on my Secret Page. The high-street version looks so good, I feel quite proud of myself (and British high-street).
Plans for weekend include a trip or two to some gorgeous National Trust gardens and a bit of photography and coffee (well, green tea in my case, I sort of stopped drinking coffee…)
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Always yours,

I used to spend lots on expensive sunnies too but I still ended up losing or breaking them so these days I stick to the cheap & cheerful :)
ReplyDeleteMe too, although I'd like a pair of classic Chanel one day. For now I am happy with my little H&M meets TopShop meets Mango collection. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit my dear!
Let me know if you wanna follow each other :)

I think you have a great point here about buying cheaper sunglasses + having more pairs - it makes perfect sense! I have 3 pairs that I rotate: 2 pairs of trusty ray bans + a more classic chanel pair. This serves me pretty well, but I could always add more! I think the same could be said for watches.... Hope you're having a lovely weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteI would love a pair of Chanel, but the price gives me a mini-heart attack every time I think of it. :D I think you have brilliant choices for switching between them. I just feel that, unlike classics like Chanel or RayBans, certain shapes come and go, so it's easier just to get a few sweet looking inexpensive ones and use them for a season or so and wear classics in between, depending on the situation.

You are absolutely right to go for high street to find plenty of original and fashionable shades! I should pass by H&M as well (actually I'm regretting the fact that I didn't get the oversize pair of the Marni for H&M collection...)
ReplyDeleteYou know you may still find them on ebay and if you wait for a couple of months they'll probably cost less than you'd pay at H&M when collection was first released. xxx
DeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGuess what? I stopped by H&M today on my way home and got myself a beautiful pair of sunglasses. I was under your influence. I usually buy more expensive sunglasses, because I look for those which are protective for the eyes too, but these were too cute. The shape is slightly cat-eye, a frame I've been looking for for ages. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, yay! I am a bad influence, ain't I. ;) I know which ones you are talking about - I tried them too, but decided that 3 pairs were too much. :D Strangely, I have been thinking about their UV protection abilities this morning. I really am not sure how good it is compared to more expensive sunglasses, but my eyes feel very comfortable even when the sun is very bright. xxx
DeleteThen I can wait to wear them! It's been raining cats and dogs all day here and the weather is so gloomy. :(
ReplyDeleteI have never bought cheap sunglasses because I have to use glasses while driving, etc. so I need mine with real glass lenses and that is even more expensive. But maybe I should follow your lead and buy cheaper ones to simply use here at home - it has never occurred to me to do that! My eye sight is not bad so I don't need the real thing while enjoying the sun on the balcony or in the garden ;-)
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel - I've been there myself (had -8 and counting before I got "surgically fixed), so wearing regular sunglasses always felt like being a little bit unaware of the world around me - soooooooooo blurred. :) But yes, definitely good idea to get some to wear at home - chic and affordable. Have you tried wearing regular sunglasses and contacts? Perhaps that could also help and widen the choices.
